Finally completed what felt like the impossible. I wrote my first book. I had been saying for years now that I was going to do it. All I needed was a moment to think, a moment to breathe and a moment (or three) to grind like nothing I have ever done before. All of these moments are over yet. Los Angeles, CA— Today, SMG|Books is proud to announce a formal partnership with power blogger and artist Carla Aaron-Lopez also known as King Carla. Carla runs a popular blog called whoiskingcarla.com and is most known for her show radio program ARTSXCRAFT hosted on AB+L Radio.
Her new book No Crown, No Title: a mixtape of tho(ugh)ts, examines the world according to Carla Aaron-Lopez. She describes herself as “an artist that temporarily lost her mind and had to move back home to find it.” The book follows her along the path of conquering post partum depression, and finding new strength as an artist of pop culture. She explores and illustrates the meaning of being a juke joint intellectual.
No Crown… takes on the persona of a mixtape, and is set in two sections, SIDE A and SIDE B. Each chapter is accompanied with suggested reading, listening and/or viewing list designed to bring the audience into the world of KING CARLA.
The book is set for a September release and will be available in print from Amazon.com and digitally through iBooks.
